Celia Kameni

Known for her remarkable achievements as a jazz singer, including a prestigious nomination at the Victoires du Jazz in 2021, Célia Kameni embarks on a new artistic experiment with Méduse. This project diverges from her previous work while maintaining the same magnetism that defines her artistry. In Méduse, Célia’s deep, textured voice converges with themes of sensitivity. Thibault Gomez’s prepared piano resonates with emotional urgency, while Juliette Serrad’s haunting cello timbre adds layers of complexity. Giani Caserrotto and his effects-laden guitar, along with Julien Loutelier’s drums, bring another level of artistic innovation, intertwining harmoniously with ethereal synthesizers to create a soundscape that defies traditional classifications.

While echoes of Nina Simone, Björk, and Nick Drake are reflected in her music, the project also aligns with contemporary artists like Moses Sumney, Shida Shahabi, and Arooj Aftab. Célia’s vocal art is a genuine quest for visceral emotion, with her voice serving as a channel for unspoken feelings. The result is a harmonious blend of sound and sentiment, where vulnerability and authenticity reign supreme. More than just a collection of songs, it is an exploration of the human experience, an invitation to immerse oneself in its complex narratives, feel the pulse of emotions woven into each note, and witness the transformative power of shared artistic expression.
