Charlie Motto

Born in the south of France into a family of music lovers, Charlie Motto grew up surrounded by both popular and classical music. This gave her a taste for both Caroline Polachek’s electronic pop and Rachmaninov’s Vespers. The result is textured, hybrid pop music, deeply connected to her emotions.

After releasing her first two EPs, Charlie Motto began to make a name for herself on the new French pop scene, alongside artists such as Kalika and Eugénie, with whom she is close. She has had the opportunity to open for Zaho de Sagazan (UK and Canada), Pierre de Maere, as well as Marie-Flore and Boston Bun.

Visually, Charlie draws inspiration from surrealist artists such as Dora Maar, Leonora Carrington, and Toyen; from science fiction and fantasy films, as well as from nature.
