A group of friends making it possible for rock stars to actually become funk stars or jazz stars. We’re not quite sure anymore, but it’s so incredible that the crowds keep begging for more.

Hard to find a musician on the planet who grooves like he does. With a right hand that seems made of elastic, he drives a band with a devastatingly funky foundation. This Minneapolis kid swears by energetic funk beats, citing Prince as an obvious inspiration. After several solo albums and sold-out world tours, the unbeatable guitarist, a collaborator with Vulfpeck and The Fearless Flyers, returns to Europe in summer 2026 to make everyone dance!

Taj Mahal can rightfully be called a living legend for his contribution to popular music. With a voice as instantly recognizable as that of Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, or Johnny Cash, Taj Mahal has, throughout his career, pushed the boundaries of African American music by incorporating sounds from the Caribbean, Africa, traditional blues, and jazz.

Bassist Pino Palladino and guitarist Blake Mills don’t make obvious music. Instead, their collaborative work moves with a deep, unshakable pocket—even when rhythm feels elusive—and carries a harmonic language that’s as rich as it is mysterious. There is subtlety at play, but it’s not softness. It’s precision, intention, and a quiet kind of daring.

Their second instrumental album, That Wasn’t a Dream, expands on the joy of discovery that animated 2021’s Notes With Attachments. Built around the kind of deep musical chemistry that makes spontaneous composition feel effortless, it drifts between form and freedom.

Jack Conte – co founder of Patreon and Pomplamoose – teams up with his high school budy Ryan Lerman, guitarist and musical director for the likes of Michael Bublé, John Legend, and Ben Folds among others, to bring you pockets that are scary. Four years after their first session, Scary Pockets have released over 200 videos watched over 200 million times on Youtube. Collaborating with a bunch of amazing artists, from Katy Perry to Cory Henry, but also Bruno Major, Darren Criss, Larry Goldings and so on.

Aja monet is a Grammy-nominated surrealist blues poet. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she won the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe Grand Slam poetry award title at age 19 and follows in the long legacy and tradition of poets participating and assembling in social movements. Her poems are a work of gravity. They are a fundamental for which all things are attracted, considered upon and enacted towards. Her work moves, constantly, between origin and outcome, allowing them to exist in converse. On her debut album when the poems do what they do, we glimpse her indefatigable commitment to speak. Those thematic origins of this album at times center around Black resistance, love and the inexhaustible quest for joy. The songs throughout are insistent and unrelenting, with some reminiscent of live club virtuosity and melee while others act as a healing balm in gilead, moving like that of the call to intercessory prayer.

It’s an honor to welcome Ala.ni to GiantSteps. We can’t wait to introduce you to her new album, set for release in 2025. After spending three years between Barbados, Jamaica, and Brazil, her music has been infused with a touch of bossa and Caribbean sounds… a true gem!

Jake Silverman, aka Button Masher — always seen sporting a cap — wears many hats himself: arranger, electronic musician, composer, and educator… and since 2021, a GRAMMY Award winner.

Silverman began experimenting with the fusion of jazz fusion — yes, that too — and chiptune back in 2018. Since then, his genre-defying music has gained popularity among jazz enthusiasts and video game fans around the world.

His big break came in 2021, when he won his first GRAMMY Award for “Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella” for his take on Meta Knight’s Revenge, created with Charlie Rosen and performed by The 8-Bit Big Band. In 2024, he scored another nomination — this time for “Best Arrangement, Instruments and Vocals” for The Last Surprise.

Button Masher has collaborated with a wide range of artists including Phoenix, The 8-Bit Big Band, Evan Marien, Adam Neely, Sungazer, Andrew Huang, Dj Cutman… and many more.

So if you, too, grew up on the melodies of Koji Kondo, put down the controller… and get ready to headbang in 8-bit.

“Breaking Waves” is his first solo album. In it, we discover powerful music composed around the piano, supported by layers of synthesizers and atmospheric electronic sounds. We immerse ourselves in the theme of waves, with their random, elusive, and indomitable movements. #OnTheWave

Damien Fleau – Piano

The problem child of jazz who refuses to play by jazz’s rules, daoud imagines a music driven by a sense of inadequacy – one that disrupts conventions without seeking approval, resonating equally with curious newcomers and seasoned purists.

His work is charged with a persistent tension: between playfulness and gravity, chaos and tenderness, irony and sincerity. With ok, his latest album, out August 29, 2025 on ACT he delivers a personal manifesto shaped by collapse and repetition – but also by the perseverance required to begin again.

Tour : 2024

When David Bowie (in a move showing great taste) called on McCaslin to make Blackstar, he humbly accepted and arrived with all his talent, somehow managing to shift the course of Bowie’s music by placing it back at the center of attention.

Jelle Denturck is the singer and frontman of DIRK., a popular Belgian indie band that – in his own words – ‘has been making a fair amount of noise these past few years’. But in fact he thinks he’s a real softie, with a record collection full of melancholic indie pop and rock music: Bowie, Beatles, Lou Reed, Elton John, Nina Simone, Anohni & The Johnsons, Sufjan Stevens, Perfume Genius, Wilco, Tobias Tesso Jr. … clearly there’s a side to Denturck that doesn’t easily reveal
itself in DIRK.’s music. Musically the influence of Denturck’s record collection is inevitable, and Dressed Like Boys’ sound mainly echoes that of the 70s.

For all the noise Denturck likes to make with DIRK., Dressed Like Boys allows him to turn the volume down a bit for an intimate look into his soul.

Tour: 2025

Emile Londonien is back with Inwards, their second album. The result? An audacious cocktail where broken beat, house, jazz, and RnB collide in a whirlwind of creativity, still as unique as ever. A saxophonist with the spotless, model-student background of the jazz world — backed by fifteen years at the conservatory — Ferdi pairs a fashion look with a musical and aesthetic identity entirely his own.

A seasoned musician, he turned to production and soon launched his personal project, collaborating with artists such as Sofiane PamartDabeull, and his trumpet-playing friend Béesau. After a debut EP widely praised by critics, Ferdi leaned into his undeniable chemistry with Dabeull to collaborate on Romance — a funk-driven album shaped by their shared love of 80s sounds, released on Dabeull Records in September 2024.

At the same time, he continues his career with TAKE 01, his first solo album, in a jazz universe flirting with indie-pop, and is already preparing his second album, scheduled for autumn 2026.

This momentum is matched by strong public enthusiasm. Ferdi now reaches over 400,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and is establishing himself as one of the rising figures of the Brussels–Paris scene.
